The standard Part B premium is often deducted from Social Security. A higher 2027 premium can make your bank-deposit increase smaller than the headline COLA.
SSA uses the CPI-W average for July, August, and September. It compares that average with the third-quarter average from the last year a COLA became effective. The percentage increase, rounded to the nearest tenth, becomes the COLA.
